Christmas Pack a Shoebox

This year (November 2021) our church would like to express our love and care to our community by participating in Samaritan's Purse "Pack a Shoebox" Initiative. We are calling everyone to help send God's love to children worldwide who need hope and toys. 

“We want boys and girls around the world to know that God loves them and has not forgotten them during this time of fear and uncertainty. Children need great joy now more than ever. Most of all, they need the hope found only in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Step 1: Pickup Shoeboxes

​You can use an average-size cardboard shoebox to begin with. You can wrap it with gift wrapping paper, but make sure to cover the box and lid separately.

Step 1: Choose a Shoebox

Option 1: prepare the gifts yourself

If you opt to prepare the gifts yourself, please use the follow steps to pack the shoeboxes.

The second way to join this Pack a Shoebox event is to donate money to us. $25 of donation is required for each shoebox. We would use this donation to purchase toys, daily necessities and learning tools etc. for the kids. Brothers and sisters are welcomed to join us to pack these gifts together. If you would like to choose this option, please give donation to sister Rosana before October 30 with $25 cash in exact amount. The date for this event will be announced on church bulletin.

Step 2: Fill with Gifts

Based on how God has moved your heart to decide on the number of shoebox(es) you like to give, and gender or age group that you are packing for.

A suggested gift value of $25 per box is for reference only.

Gift suggestions and reference:

  • Doll, stuffed animal, Interactive toys that include push buttons, lights, noise, foam ball, kite 

  • Soccer ball (Make sure to include a manual air pump so that the ball can be reinflated.)

  • An outfit of clothing to wear, backpack, comb, toothbrush, washcloth, blanket, shoes and socks, sunglasses, hat, hair bows

  • Small musical instrument (such as a harmonica or woodwind recorder)

  • pencils, colored pencils, pencil case, markers, coloring books, picture books, notebooks.

⛔Do Not Include

Candy; toothpaste; gum; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.

Step 3: Shoebox labels and $9 Donation

Every shoebox needs a $9 donation to provide for collecting, processing, shipping, and other project costs. If you make this donation online, you can Follow Your Box and receive a special label. Next, attach the label to your shoebox, and use their Look-up Tool to find out the country where your box will be delivered with the message of Christ’s love.

  • We will collect all gift shoeboxes at the Central Chinese Christian Church @San Jose. Please drop off your completed shoeboxes (attached with shipping labels, please see Shoebox labels and $9 Donation section for details ) to the Fellowship Hall.

  • Please pick one of the time slots above to drop off the completed shoeboxes at church. If you cannot drop off at the given date and time, please contact church for special arrangement.

Discover Your Shoebox Gift's Destination

Once shoeboxes are processed by mid‑December, you can check country destinations here if you donated through “Follow Your Box” and attached the bar code label to your shoeboxes.
